How are We Doing?

December 22nd, 2008 § 11

So it’s been 5 days since we’ve been back home and it’s been BUSY, BUSY, BUSY. Met up with friends, did my hair, bought a bicycle, gone cycling, ate some favourite foods, done my Christmas shopping and I’ve basically not stopped, literally. And this week, it’s Christmas so it’s gonna be another crazy week. Of course, I’ve not scrapped and not visited my favourite LSS. How has your week been going??

Quick Update

December 18th, 2008 § 9

Kids and I are back in Singapore!  We touched down yesterday evening and spent most of yesterday and today jet-lagging. :) So far, we’ve headed to the nearby coffee shops for our favourite local foods and also supper last night. The kids have also been having a blast with their cousins whom they haven’t seen and played with in months!! It’s almost a daycare centre in the house, I tell you – with 5 screaming, hyperactive kids!! :)

It’s been hot, for us at least. Hope we get aclimatized soon. :) And I had errands to run today. Such is life in Singapore.  I hope to have time to scrap soon. Have a great weekend everyone and thanks for coming by!

Online Scrapbooking Classes

December 11th, 2008 § 4

I thought it’d be interesting to do a post on online scrapbooking classes. Since I’ve been in Switzerland, I’ve taken quite a few classes since I’m unable to attend any physical classes. And I found there’s a range of different online scrapbooking classes for scrappers. Here are some that I’ve come across…

  1. Big Picture Scrapbooking – This is probably the most well-known. They’ve got a whole range of classes and some of them, you can get to access the class materials the moment you register. The others, well, they follow a fixed class schedule. They even have trial classes that you can try out for free. Their classes are taught by well-known scrappers such as Ali Edwards, Cathy Zielske, Jenni Bowlin and more. :)
  2. Get It Scrapped – Another site with a wide range of classes from traditional scrapbooking, to how to make your own embellishments, to photo editing. I’ve only just discovered this site and there are already a few classes I’m eye-ing. :)
  3. Jessica Sprague – This site conducts digital scrapbooking classes as well as a few traditional scrapbooking classes. They also have digital photography classes for those of you who want to improve on your photography skills. :)
  4. Scrap Friends – A few classes here on journalling, creating custom embellishments, tags and others. These are self-paced classes and you can do them at your own time. Best of all, they’re FREE! :) They also have a “how-to’s” section with tips and technique ideas.
  5. Shimelle.com – Some great classes and ideas from Shimelle Laine. I love her style and there are some project ideas on the site that are free as well.

Have fun exploring these sites. I know I will be visiting them ever so often. And if you do know of others, feel free to let me know! :)

Have a great weekend! :)

Paper & Co Show 2008 – Versailles, France

December 8th, 2008 § 13

This is a way overdue post, and I had forgotten all about it. :)

I had the opportunity to attend PAC 2008 with Soo Jen in early October. It was a last minute thing and we decided and got everything booked within 2 weeks of the show. It started out with an almost 6 hour trip to Paris and then a transfer on another train to Versailles.

We arrived in the late so we headed straight to a small eatery to have dinner. Ooohh.. all those calories. :)

Early next morning, we set off from our hotel to the Palais de Congres, about a 10 min walk away but we were pleasantly surprised by the street market that was going on just round the bend from our hotel.

I love street markets… I could just walk around in one all day. I’m such a foodie. :)

Next, it was a short breakfast stop just before arriving at the Palais. I had a yummy Croque Monsieur (which I heard you HAVE to have in France) and a hot chocolate. :)

We got lost a little after that and finally made it to PAC just in time for our 1st class and over the next 2 days, Jen and I attend 7 classes! It was a mad 2 days of scrapping, I tell ya. We were so busy in the classes, I did not have time to take many pictures but here are two… with Rebecca Sower and Michelle van Etten.

The classes were FUN and I had the opportunity to take Irene’s class and also Kah-Mei’s class again which was great. :) (I’m knew I had a picture taken with her, but I can’t seem to find it now!!)

On our last day in Versailles, we had a little bit of time to walk over to the Versailles palace for some pics…

And a little walk around the neighbourhood…

I love Versailles. I love it’s wide streets and beautiful buildings. And there were also a lot less people there than in Paris which made it more enjoyable. Next stop, Paris… and to a highly recommended restaurant for lunch.

I found this place on the internet and it was highly recommended because mostly locals go there. And it didn’t disappoint. Lots of French and I love that the place didn’t feel touristy at all. And the no-frills food was very reasonably priced too. :) Here’s what I had…

Egg Mayo Salad

Steak

and Chestnut Cream

We had 2 days to explore Paris… and it was great visiting the city again. There’s just something magical about the city of lights… enjoy…

Beautiful, isn’t it? :) More pics here. :) Have a great week and thank you for stopping by. :)
